Freshman Marisa McCabe, Defenders Alum, helps leads Monroe College to last second win over Dean College with game ending free throws!

In the game against Dean, Monroe was lead by 2012 All-American Jasmine McRoy who scored a game-high 24 points. Thid was McRoy’s fourth game scoring 20 points or more this season. Freshman foward Marisa McCabe was Monroe’s second leading scorer. McCabe finished the game with a season-high ten points. She also pulled down six rebounds.

Monroe let a large half-time lead slip away when Dean pounded the ball inside, (26 points in the paint in the second period). Monroe’s 20-point lead was down to just two points with two minutes remaining in the game. But that’s when McRoy made two clutch free throws that gave Monroe some breathing room. However, Dean responded on their end of the floor connecting with two free throws as well to cut the lead back down to two.

Freshman forward McCabe sealed the win for Mustangs after coming down with the defensive rebound off of a would be game-tying jumper by Dean guard V. Slyvai with 24 seconds remaining in the game.
