Freshman Jada Atchison opens season at home like a seasoned veteran!


Lakewood, NJ- The Georgian Court University women’s basketball team opened the home portion of its 2015-2016 schedule on Wednesday with a tough loss to perennial CACC power, Holy Family University, by the score of 89-69.

Georgian Court battled hard in the first quarter of action, trailing only by one, 17-16. However, the Tigers came out in the second quarter and roared past the Lions to open up a 25-point halftime (54-29) lead by scoring 37 points in the quarter. The Lions started to find their groove in the second half of play as they outscored Holy Family by a score of 40-35. The Lions held a 39-33 lead on the boards and connected on a season- high 10 three point baskets. With the victory Holy Family gets their first win on the young season to make their record 1-2, 1-0 CACC while the Lions fall to 0-3, 0-1 CACC.

Georgian Court put three players into double figures led by freshman Jada Atchison who poured in 20 points grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists. Jaelyn Tweedy helped out with 16 points while Alliyah Berger had 12 points in the losing effort.
