The foul line was almost the Delaware ValleyRegional High School girls basketball team’s undoing on Monday night.

The Terriers, however, escaped Phillipsburgwith a 47-46 Skyland Conference interdivision victory.

Turning point: The Stateliners scored six straight points, four from the foul line, to tie the game 45-45 with 23.3 seconds remaining.

Delaware Valley junior Veronica Christ stormed down the court and answered with a bucket to put the Terriers ahead 47-45 with about 15 seconds left.

Phillipsburg got a couple desperate looks at the basket and ultimately junior Emily Carducci was fouled and sent to the line with 0.0 showing on the scoreboard.

Carducci sank the first free throw but was unlucky with the second, which rattled in and out, allowing Delaware Valley, which was 1 of 8 from the foul line in the fourth quarter, to exhale.
