ATLANTA, Ga. – Senior forward Shalette Brown pieced together her second 20-20 game of the year to help push the Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham women’s basketball team to a 74-70 victory over Oglethorpe University in the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Classic on Saturday evening.

Brown wreaked havoc on the Petrels (5-6) all game as she totaled 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting to go along with 21 rebounds for her fifth straight double-double of the season.

The Petrels defended their home court right at the start of the contest and after a six-point scoring effort by Lauren Ransom, they jumped out to an 8-0 lead over the Devils (7-3). Ransom led the Petrels in scoring and rebounding as she finished with a game-high 26 points and seven boards.

FDU-Florham responded with a 13-4 run, but it was the Petrels who closed out the opening quarter with a three-point advantage following a Ransom layup.

In the second quarter, the Devils were held to just 12 points, but they were able to knock down three 3-pointers, two fromDanielle Leguillou and one by Alyssa McDonough right before the halftime buzzer sounded to keep the game close. Leguillou ended the evening with 12 points while McDonough added 16.

The Devils carried their momentum into the second half and they went on a 10-2 run to recapture the lead. However, it was a back and forth battle in the third quarter as there were six lead changes.

With seven minutes left to play, the Petrels lead grew to five, but after back-to-back 3-point makes from Fernanda Reyesand McDonough, the Devils grabbed a one-point lead.
