BALTIMORE – Trailing as much as 15 points, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women’s Basketball Team rallied and cut the deficit to a single-possession late into the fourth, but were unable to complete the comeback as they fell to in-state rival Coppin State, 61-54, inside the Physical Education Complex (PEC) Arena.

Despite only shooting 31-percent (17-of-54) from the floor, the Lady Hawks were scorching from behind the arc. Collectively, the club went 7-of-13 from downtown with Subritzky and Keyera Eaton (Winston-Salem, N.C.) leading the charge.

Subritzky finished with a team-high 17 points on 60-percent (6-of-10) from the field, including four trey balls, while Eaton added 10 points on 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc. Senior center Taryana Kelly (North Brunswick, N.J.) matched a season-high 14 rebounds in the loss.

Furthermore, forward Alexis Udoji (Randolph, Mass.) reached another milestone as she became the 23rd player in the program’s NCAA Division I history to play in at least 100 games. Udoji finished her afternoon with four boards and three rejections.

Eaton tallied nine points in the opening period, but the Lady Hawks trailed after one quarter of play, 18-15. Both squads struggled in the second; however, the Eagles managed to balloon their advantage to double-digits at intermission, 27-17. Click here for full article
