Hill Girls Basketball Defeats Seton School (VA) 59-51

The Hill Girls Basketball team capped off a successful weekend at the 37th Annual Bullis Holiday Basketball Classic by defeating the Seton School (VA) in the consolation game 59 – 51.  The Lady Rams claimed 3rd place in the tournament after finishing in 8th place last year.  Playing their 3rd game in three days, the Hill struggled offensively in the first quarter, leading only by a score of 10 – 5 thanks to scoring contributions from five different players.    Qiana Vigo ’19 scored 7 of her team-high 18 points in the second quarter although Seton came back strong to tie the game at 23 apiece heading into the break.

The Blues came out strong defensively and forced the Seton School into many turnovers in which The Hill were able to capitalize on.  Both Kelly Ebner ’17 and Vigo scored 8 points apiece in the third frame to give Hill a 45 – 36 lead heading into the fourth quarter.  Seton would cut the lead to one in the fourth quarter, but strong foul shooting (5 – 5 FT in the fourth quarter, 10 – 12 FT for the game) put The Hill in a good position to win the game.  The Hill never trailed throughout the game.
Maia Lockhart ’18 contributed 15 points in the game, while shooting 100% from the line.  Kelly Ebner ’17 contributed 14 points, while Kathryn Dunn ’17 had 6 points, all coming at crucial points in the game.  Hannah Delahaye ’20 and Alexa Giacche ’19 each had 3 points.  The Hill squad leaves for holiday break proudly boasting a 7 – 1 record.  The Lady Rams will return to action on January 4th at 4:30 in Gillison Gym vs. Baldwin.  We hope everybody has a great holiday break with family and friends – GO HILL!
