Kendrea Williams Career High 38 Points Leads Women’s Hoops Past Cortland

ITHACA, N.Y. (November 18, 2017) – Sophomore Kendrea Williams scored a career-best 38 points to lead the FDU women’s basketball team to an 80-75 win over Cortland Saturday.

The Devils improve to 2-1 on the season, as the Red Dragons drop to 0-2.

Williams 38 points were four points off the school-record, set by Simone Edwards during the 1992-93 season. The sophomore also went 7-of-20 from behind the arc; the seven three’s tied the school mark held by Williams and Leigh Ann-Lively, while the 20 attempts broke her own mark of 16 set last season.

FDU got off to a slow start for the second straight game, surrendering 17 of the first 20 points. The Devils nibbled away at the lead, scoring six straight to get within six. A Williams trey with 39 seconds left in the first quarter brought the deficit to three at 20-17.

The Red Dragons clung onto the lead for all of the second quarter, and shot 47.1% in the opening half. The Devils ball-possession was much more controlled today, committing just seven turnovers in the first half while forcing 16.
