Freshman Briyanah Richardson Wins Second MAAC Rookie of the Week Honor!

EDISON, NJ– Freshman Briyanah Richardson was named by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) as Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, after leading the Peacocks in a win over Lafayette.

Richardson scored a career-high 28 points in the 62-60 win against the Leopards on Tuesday. She shot 8-17 from the field, 4-6 from deep, and 8-10 from the free throw line. Richardson also dished out five assists, and grabbed five rebounds in the win. 16 of her 28 points came in the fourth quarter, to keep Saint Peter’s ahead and secure the victory.

Briyanah Richardson Does It Again! Sets New Career High with 29 Points!

EASTON, PA –The Saint Peter’s women’s basketball team earned its first road win of the season, defeating Lafayette 62-60 on Tuesday night. The win was the Leopards first loss of the season after they were out to a perfect 3-0 start. Briyanah Richardson led all players with 28 points.

The FBC Defenders own Eva Gibson has committed to American University on a Track Scholarship! Eva has starred at Colts Neck High School and decided that she wanted to pursue a track career over basketball. She is a two-sport star athlete at her high school and competed in both track and basketball during the spring and summer travel seasons. Freshman Carly Rice came off the bench for 13 points on the strength of a trio of three-pointers.

Five Bullets reached double-figures with senior Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) pouring in 16. Sophomore Meredith Brown (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) picked up 13 points, while juniors Emma Hahner (Forest Hill, Md./C. Milton Wright) and Ashley Gehrin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) each tallied 10 points. Hahner also grabbed eight rebounds. Freshman Carly Rice (Pennington, N.J./The Pennington School) came off the bench for 13 points on the strength of a trio of three-pointers.

Maci Thornton scored 17 of her game-high 27 points in the second half to lead the Falcons. Kristen Smoluk tallied 10 points, while Alecia Rohrer provided eight points and 10 rebounds.

Messiah, the two-time defending Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth champ, opened the game with an 11-4 advantage following a steal and lay-up by Smoluk midway through the opening quarter. Gettysburg, the defending Centennial Conference champion, rallied with its own 11-4 run to end the quarter tied 15-15.

The Bullets pulled ahead in the second quarter. Carrying a 20-19 advantage, the hosts turned in 10 of the next 14 points, closing with three-pointer by junior Kiera Cesareo (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) and a lay-up by Brown for a 30-23 advantage with 1:07 to go before halftime. Thornton helped close the gap to 32-28 with a three-pointer to cap the first-half scoring.

Atchison Tops All Players With 23 Points in Saturday’s Match-Up vs. Bentley!

– A night after pouring in 18 points in her first collegiate action in almost a full calendar year, Jada Atchison was back at it again Saturday as the redshirt junior topped all players with 23 more points in Georgian Court University’s 97-63 loss to Bentley University (hosted by Merrimack College) Saturday evening.

Atchison shot 8-for-18 from the floor, including a dazzling 5-for-9 from beyond the three-point arc, in 28 total minutes. Saffiyah Lee also sported a quality showing with her 13 points (6-of-8 FG) in 20 minutes. Natalija Dubrovina grabbed a game-high eight boards for the Lions in the outing.
