Defenders @NYLiberty Game Fundraising Event!



The Franklin Basketball Club is teaming up with the NY Liberty to attend a game and raise funds. Spend the day in New York City enjoying the sites, great food, and atmosphere of midtown Manhattan. Then finish it all off with the exciting entertainment of a NY Liberty basketball game and the return of Essence Carson to face former teammates Epiphanny Prince and Tina Charles! We are reaching out to alumni families to help us reach our goal of selling 150 NY Liberty vs LA Sparks tickets on May 21st at 6pm (Madison Square Garden). The flyer contains all the information you need to support the program and get your tickets.
If you and/or your family would like to participate but cannot attend, please consider purchasing a pair of tickets (or more) to help send a child to the game. Thank in advance for your support!

Congratulations Jackie Rodriguez, 2016 All-NJAC Honorable Mention!

FBC Defenders Alum Jackie Rodriguez and current William Patterson University Guard was named to the All-NJAC Honorable Mention. Jackie played her high school ball at Sayreville War Memorial High School where she scored well over 1,000 points in her career! The sharp shooting guard enjoyed a fantastic 2016 season and has already begun working on getting better for next season. Congratulations Jackie! We are ALL so very proud of you!

Rodriguez Named Feb. 8 Pioneer of the Week!

Sophomore Jackie Rodriguez averaged 16.5 points during two games last week.

WAYNE, N.J. – Sophomore women’s basketball guard Jackie Rodriguez(Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) was selected as the Feb. 8 William Paterson Pioneer of the Week.

Rodriguez scored a team-high 18 points on 4-for-8 (.500) shooting from three-point range and tied her career best with four steals Feb. 3 against Montclair State. She then posted seven rebounds, five assists and a team-high 15 tallies during a 61-51 victory Feb. 6 at Rutgers-Newark.

“Four Pioneers Reach Double Digits in Scoring”

NEWARK, N.J. – Four Pioneers were in double digits in scoring as the William Paterson women’s basketball team (13-9, 9-6 NJAC) earned a 61-51 victory at Rutgers-Newark (7-15, 3-12 NJAC) Feb. 6. Sophomore guard Jackie Rodriguez (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) scored a team-best 15 points, adding seven rebounds and five assists. Sophomore forward Tori Woetzel (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) had 14 tallies and seven boards, senior guard Brittany Harden (Millville, N.J./Sacred Heart)collected 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists, and senior forward Alex Milne (Howell, N.J./Howell)finished with 11 tallies and a game-high 11 boards. WP jumped out to a 19-8 lead by the end of the first quarter and a 33-25 edge at halftime. When the Scarlet Raiders cut it to five (42-37) less than 30 seconds before the end of the third period, the Pioneers started the fourth with an 8-2 burst (50-39, 6:41) behind a pair of Rodriguez three-pointers.

William Paterson owned a 49-32 rebounding advantage and shot 43.1 (22-51) percent from the floor while limiting Rutgers-Newark to a 19-for-66 (.288) effort. Junior guard Maria Simmons posted 25 points and six rebounds, while senior guard Arianna Williams had 11 tallies and seven boards, for the Scarlet Raiders. William Paterson will host Kean Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 6:00 p.m. The Pioneers will honor their female student-athletes at halftime as part of the National Girls and Women in Sports Day festivities.

WAYNE, N.J. – Sophomore guard Jackie Rodriguez(Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) scored 14 of her game-high 25 points during the first half as the William Paterson women’s basketball team (12-8, 8-5 NJAC) pulled away from Rutgers-Camden (11-8, 6-7 NJAC) for a 75-55 victory Feb. 1.

Five straight points off the hot hand of Rodriguez helped WP transform a four-point edge into a 21-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Pioneers extended that advantage to 21 (41-20) on an Alisa Giordano (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) floater in the lane during the final minute of the opening half, and WP carried a 41-22 edge into the break.
